As you can see KatieNicePortraits has changed, I've got a new look, a new layout and I hope you like it as much as I do.
I have had a rebrand in the works for quite a while now, the previous look of this site just didn't feel like me and I didn't find it inspiring anymore. When I created it I had felt I needed a "professional" image and in my mind "professional" meant grey and maybe a little safe too. Because, back then, I was working on mainly portraits with a serious nature, I was unsure on how to convey my love of colour.
But now, after 4 years of being an artist and my "Animals in Hats" series (which I believe was a groundbreaking step for me) I know that a so-called professional brand can also be representative of me and definitely doesn't have to be grey!
I have always wanted to let my art do the talking, I like the idea of my website being a gallery for my work and not something to detract from that. Hence, I've kept my website clean, white backgrounds, with the focus placed firmly on my artwork.
I have incorporated my Etsy store much more, making it as easy as possible for you to find where to buy my pieces if you so choose to. And you'll see that on my commissions page, a simple form and image upload is all it takes to make an enquiry about a custom piece of artwork.
One of my favourite parts of the rebrand is my brand new logo. Gone is the overly plain grey logo and in with one which feels much more me. I wanted my logo to reflect my personality, my art and my love of colour. It's design definitely took more than a little while to get right - there were many, many, many versions before this one! But I feel as though we got it right and I have to say I am slightly in love with that retro font. The colour combination, marmite as it may be, was in the end a pretty obvious choice. The warm yellow is not only my favourite colour but it's also universally the representative of happiness, so seeing this colour all over my website is a huge plus. Whilst the lavender colour works as a great contrast and offers up my most favourite of colour-clashes.
This website has been a long time coming and I do so hope you like the new changes I've made. If you have a minute, take a look around, I'd love to know what you think.
